Public Health Preparedness & Response

Training

North Carolina's state and local public health and preparedness capabilities are tested, evaluated and strengthened on an ongoing basis. PHP&R main and regional office staff experts in disaster response, preparedness planning, epidemiology, pharmacy and industrial hygiene work with local health departments, hospitals, clinics and university medical departments to meet state accreditation requirements and national standards. In alignment with the 15 PHP&R capabilities for state and local public health preparedness planning developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, training focuses on the following areas:

  • Planning and implementation
  • Medical logistics
  • Emergency communications protocols
  • Strategic National Stockpile logistics
  • Public health surveillance and epidemiological investigation
  • Responder safety and health
