Industrial Hygiene Consultation
The industrial hygienists in Occupational Health and Environmental Health provide technical consultation to employers, employees, residents, state and local agencies, schools, and physicians and other health care providers across the state to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, prevent and control exposure to chemicals, biological hazards (noninfectious diseases), and physical agents in the workplace, home, schools and other locations.
Our industrial hygiene consultants:
- Provide professional, expert, unbiased information, guidance recommendations and assistance to small private-sector employers to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, prevent and control exposure to occupational and environmental health hazards.
- Provide consultation and technical advice for health departments, first responders and decontamination personnel about health hazards associated with methamphetamine labs.
- Respond to inquiries from physicians and other healthcare providers about occupational and environmental health exposure issues.
- Provide industrial hygiene consultative services as requested by local health departments, other local agencies and state agencies.
- Provide training and technical support to local health departments, local and state agencies, and industry groups about occupational health hazards, exposure to environmental contaminants, and indoor environmental quality issues.
- Serve as subject matter experts to Public Health Preparedness and Response for industrial hygiene related issues in planning and responding to emergency events involving release of chemicals and radiological materials.
- Anticipate new and/or re-emerging occupational and environmental health hazards.
